Weekend Update

Spent a lovely weekend taking classes with Danielle Flanders and catching up with a few scrapping buddies. Danielle is so sweet, very patient, and uber-talented. The projects she designed for us were beautiful. This is a peek of one of the layouts...I still have a few things to finish up (sorry about the lighting..it's been raining here all day) but I wanted to share a bit of what we did with you):

We made a set of cards, 4 layouts and a stunningly beautiful mini-album (will post more pics later). I learned so much and was grateful for the opportunity to share time with my creative friends before the start of a hectic week.

On the way home I ventured into Mt. Kisco, one of my favorite towns; so quaint and scenic...and it has a Main Street. In my humble opinion, a town is not really a "town" without a Main Street!

And of course no girlfriend's weekend would be complete without a little shopping. I scored this loot from various places, and promised myself I would put it to good use this week...hmmm...promises, promises...

Oh, forgot to mention, I finished Season 1 of "Heroes"; a deliriously awesome series...left me completely breathless...

Save the Cheerleader; Save the World…

Yeah! I finally had a chance to get out and enjoy the glorious weather we’ve been having here on Long Island. The temps are in the 60′s and I can hear the little birdies singing! I love it. But I’m not lovin’ my school break. Spring Break is proving not to be a break at all for me. I’ve been running around like a crazy woman – chauffeuring the kids, running errands, taking care of doctor’s appointments…UGH! I finally decided to put a stop to all the madness and chill out until classes start again. I think I’ve cooked one meal in the past 4 days (Corned Beef and Cabbage for St. Patty’s Day yesterday) and I’ve managed to keep up with the laundry; that’s about it though. I really don’t care what my house looks like this week. hehe… I’m having a blast watching episodes of the TV show “Heroes” (thanks to my friend Joyce who has me totally addicted to this series). I watched 4 hours of it last night on Netflix while working on the project below.

This is for a “shaped fan book” swap hosted by Alpha Stamps…can you see the fan shape? Everyone makes 5 pages and receives 5 back. I like it because it’s a different theme than most other swaps I have participated in.

Another project originally designed by Miss Wendy..(I adore that chickie!). The base for the album is this sweet vintage 1908 Sears catalog. Wendy used a ton of cool paint techniques on her original, but since I didn't have the time or exact supplies to duplicate her amazing album, I had to make some stuff up on my own. The result is this little mini that stores the verses of my favorite love poem by Pablo Neruda. ACK! I just LOVE it! It's so lush and sparkly and pretty! I decided to use Wendy's paint techniques wherever I could, but also included vintage images from my own stash and some Melissa Frances crepe paper (yum, yum!) and other doo-dads. Love this little thang! Sorry for the dark pics..but I think you can get the idea. Oh, and I've included the entire poem below. Thanks for having a peek and for visiting with me today...xoxoxoxo

I had fun being a Bad Girl this weekend, and I didn't even get into trouble! Actually, I'm about as conservative as they come, but I played bad with Wendy Rago's Bad Girls Kit Club project. Wendy designed a gorgeous box and included a ton of cool techniques. While I didn't copy all of her techniques for m box below, I was happy with how mine turned out. The red flappy things you see are actually hanging off the edges so it may be hard for you to see that this is actually a square box, but it is! This is one of my favorite projects to date! I think I'll fill it with lots of fabric and crepe paper rosettes...or maybe with a bunch of pretty tags....or maybe...

But first I have to start these two term papers for school - both due this week -- I know, I should hit the panic button now, right? LOL...
